New to Aerials?

Umbilico’s adult aerial classes cater for all levels of experience so it’s important to us that if you’ve never tried it before you get the most comprehensive & fun introduction as possible. For first timers aerials can be challenging, you need to develop a degree of physical conditioning and more importantly an understanding of moving safely with the various apparatus.

Introduction to Aerials, our 4 week course for all new adult beginners.

Our introductory course is an induction into our aerial program, over four weeks it covers safety, the basics of aerial conditioning and a range of tricks that allow you to experience the excitement of how it can all come together. You will be introduced to static trapeze, aerial hoop (lyra) and aerial silks (tissu).

You can be at any level of fitness to participate, drills and tricks can be scaled and the height of our equipment is adjustable, so for those afraid of heights don’t worry we have you covered!

Do I have to do the course?

We will make exceptions to those who have had some form of aerial experience or similar. Please contact us if you want to jump straight into our classes and we’ll send you a list of pre-requisites that will help us determine if you are ok to do so.

Can I try a class before committing to a course?

Yes you can! One Saturday a month we offer an Aerial Taster. This is a 90min class that will run through the basics of Aerial Hoop, Silks and Trapeze.

What happens after I finish the course?

Based on the assessment of your course instructor we may suggest you re-do the course to nail all the essential basics. Alternatively we’ll run through with you all the beginner level classes that may be of interest to you. At this point you can focus on one apparatus or participate in classes that cover all three.
